About NOBL

New Orleans Boulder Lounge opened in 2015 with the intention to create a welcoming and inclusive community space for existing and aspiring climbers. At the time, there had been no climbing gyms in New Orleans for over 10 years, and we set out to build a climbing gym which always puts the experience of our community at the center.

Our purpose is to build a welcoming, empowering, and equitable home for the New Orleans climbing community.
We do this through several different efforts and initiatives:

Creating a Welcoming Space

Every climbing gym has walls and holds, but it’s what and who fills the space that makes it special. NOBL is a great place to climb because it’s filled with wonderful people and meaningful relationships. This is a place for you to have fun, challenge yourself, and be a part of our climbing community.

Community Meet-ups

Every Saturday at NOBL the gym is set aside for unique affinity groups to come together and climb in intentionally held spaces. NOBL recognizes that the climbing scene has a traditional white, cis-male appearance, and we want to do our part to expand that. Each month we host an LGBTQ, POC, and Women’s climbing meet-ups at zero cost to participants.

Tiered Pricing

NOBL offers a tiered pricing model that allows members and guests to pay according to their ability. Reduced and subsidized rates make it easier for more people to experience our space, and sustainer rates support our efforts to do so.

Uplifting Beginners

New climbers are critical to the health and vibrancy of our community, and we do all we can to prioritize their experience. That includes offering a special New-to-NOBL membership, new member meet-ups, and Bouldering 101 classes, but also creating a culture where the presence of new climbers is just as important as that of lifelong climbers.
